I'm loving this weather southern California's getting right now. It's pouring rain and the wind is gusting over 40 mph. Though, I think that's actually inaccurate and that, while the 40 mph wind isn't entirely continuous, its bouts are long lived enough to be called other than gusts.

Anyway, the rain and wind and wet are wonderful. I don't get a good storm like this very often, particularly not in my area due to some climatological/geological peculiarities of my local area.

Also, the waves were huge compared to normal at the beach. I'll post pictures at some point. They were actually big enough that surfers caught some barrels. Most of the waves were fairly "closed out" though. I was talking with a surfer from Hawaii who reckons the faces were about 15 feet (I agree), but that in Hawaii, the waves would be called about eight feet. He said that, in comparison, this would be a good, fun day at the beach in Hawaii with regard to surfability. Unfortunately, he broke his board in half when he got turned over by a big wave (He thinks he started onto it a bit late and thus got turned over before he could stand up). The water was said to be 56 degrees, so I didn't bother going out there. Though, I might not be able to resist taking a boogie board out there tomorrow. I don't have a wetsuit.

Anyway, if anybody's wondering where I've been, school has been keeping me quite busy.

Peace.
