http://www.pcworld.com/article/190291/in..._sale.html Sounds pretty awesome to me. However, I am not sure how they expect gamers to take advantage of six cores. I have a quad-core one and it's far more processing power then I will use for quite some time. On an unrelated note, I need 1483$.

Hell, I have a dual core, and that's far more processing power than I will use for quite some time.

Yeah, I feel like it's not worth buying 6-core CPUs when most software isn't even optimized for two yet.

Software will not likely be optimized for more than two processors for a long while yet.  The only current benefit to having six cores would be an increased CPU multitasking ability.  However, it is also unlikely that the typical computer user would ever need that much multitasking.  I can hardly overload my two-core processor even when doing CPU intensive number crunching or signal processing scripts.

Word on the street says the next update of the Mac Pro is imminent, and that it'll have 6 cores. Shit's gonna be expensive.
